In April we commenced works on our latest City of London Prestigious project St Mary Axe also known as 'Can of Ham' due to its distinctive curves, and Bells Power Solutions add this project to their impressive Skyscraper/Tower portfolio which includes Heron Tower, Scalpel, Shard and soon to be 22 Bishopsgate.

The project consist of 2 no. FG Wilson P2250-1 Generator fitted with 11 KV Alternators which are installed within a bespoke acoustic enclosure/plantroom arrangement to achieve an external noise level of 45 dB(A) @ 34m, all installed in kit form within the apex of the roof structure at level 22.

The enclosure system was built in its entirety off site before being broken down into sections and delivered to site and over a period of out of hours working was lifted to the roof and site assembled, the main driver for this was that the SWL of the Crane could lift no greater than 8,000kgs meaning the assembly of the plantroom consisted of circa 20 lifts as well as having to decouple and reconnect the 11KV alternators to the generators.

With the acoustic plantroom and the generators now in place we have to install a full fuel system from level B3 to roof and a complete PLC system to control the synchronising of the Generators and the main MV switchgear, testing and commissioning is schedule for Q3 2018 allowing our team to move directly onto 22 Bishopsgate project.
