Bells Power gets the red carpet treatment

Following on from successful turnkey installations at Park House and Selfridges on Oxford Street, Bells Power is quickly becoming the first choice for supply and installation of generators in London’s West End.

We have just delivered a full generator installation in London’s Red Carpet Experience at 48 Leicester Square. The new building is the largest development to be carried out in Leicester Square in decades and comprises a 95,000 sq ft office building combined with 7,000 Sq ft of retail space.

Bells was contracted by Designer Group and Multiplex to provide a turnkey generator solution, consisting of an FG Wilson P1500P3 400KV generator on basement level B2.

Due to the building’s location and use, noise was a major factor both externally and internally. The generator set was installed within a bespoke enclosure to reduce the noise level within the plant room to 80 DB(A), with secondary attenuation added to the system to reduce the noise to 60 dB(A) at 1m for the rest of the building.

A complete fuel system includes a 24-hour capacity bulk storage tank, plus gravity feeding flow and return to the generator. A 450mm I/D flue, with 55° touch temperature was also installed from the generator to the roof termination point.

A full PLC system, complete with outstations and a fibre ring, controls the operation of the generators as well as the main LV ACBs, monitoring of the fuel system and the PMS of the building.
